A juicy and tender air fryer chicken breast recipe that features a golden-brown exterior and perfectly seasoned profile. Ideal for busy weeknights, it cooks in half the time of an oven and uses minimal oil for a healthy, high-protein meal.

Ingredients

Scale

2 Large Boneless Skinless Chicken Breasts
2 Tablespoons Olive Oil
0.5 Teaspoon Kosher Salt
0.25 Teaspoon Black Pepper
1 Teaspoon Garlic Powder
1 Teaspoon Onion Powder
0.5 Teaspoon Smoked Paprika
0.5 Teaspoon Dried Oregano

Instructions

  1. Remove chicken from the refrigerator about 15 minutes before cooking and pat the breasts completely dry with paper towels
  2. Use a meat mallet or rolling pin to gently pound the chicken to an even thickness for uniform cooking
  3. Place the chicken in a large bowl, drizzle with oil, and toss to coat
  4. In a small ramekin, mix the salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, and oregano
  5. Sprinkle the seasoning blend over the chicken, ensuring both sides are thoroughly covered
  6. Preheat your air fryer to 375°F (190°C) for 3-5 minutes
  7. Arrange the seasoned chicken in the air fryer basket in a single layer without overlapping
  8. Cook for 10 minutes, then open the basket and flip the chicken with tongs
  9. Cook for an additional 5-8 minutes until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C)
  10. Transfer the chicken to a cutting board and let it rest for at least 5 minutes before slicing to allow juices to redistribute

Notes

Pull the meat out at 160°F or 162°F as carry-over cooking will bring it up to the safe 165°F while resting.

Do not overcrowd the basket; air needs to circulate freely for a golden crust.

For extra moisture, salt your chicken 30 minutes before cooking (dry brining).

To reheat, place back in the air fryer at 350°F for 3-4 minutes to avoid the rubbery texture of a microwave.
