A quick, utterly delicious, and vibrant spicy halal beef stir fry featuring tender beef and crisp vegetables coated in a savory-spicy sauce, perfect for busy weeknights and family meals.

Ingredients

Scale

1.5 lbs Halal Beef
2 tbsp Low Sodium Soy Sauce
1 tbsp Cornstarch
1 tsp Sesame Oil
0.25 cup Low Sodium Soy Sauce
2 tbsp Packed Brown Sugar
1 tbsp Rice Vinegar
1-2 tbsp Sriracha
1 tsp Grated Fresh Ginger
2 cloves Minced Garlic
0.25 cup Water or Beef Broth
1 tsp Cornstarch
2 tbsp Vegetable Oil
2 medium Sliced Bell Peppers
2 cups Broccoli Florets
1 large Julienned Carrots
0.5 medium Sliced Yellow Onio
Optional Sesame Seeds
Optional Sliced Green Onions

Instructions

  1. Slice your halal beef against the grain into thin strips, about 1/4 inch thick
  2. In a medium bowl, combine the sliced beef with 2 tablespoons of soy sauce, 1 tablespoon of cornstarch, and 1 teaspoon of sesame oil. Toss everything together until the beef is evenly coated. Set it aside to marinate for at least 15 minutes
  3. In a separate small bowl, whisk together the 1/4 cup soy sauce, 2 tablespoons brown sugar, 1 tablespoon rice vinegar, 1-2 tablespoons sriracha (adjust to your spice preference), 1 teaspoon grated fresh ginger, 2 minced garlic cloves, 1/4 cup water or beef broth, and 1 teaspoon cornstarch. Stir until everything is well combined and the cornstarch dissolves
  4. Chop all your vegetables – bell peppers, broccoli, carrots, and onion – into uniform, bite-sized pieces
  5. Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a large wok or a heavy-bottomed skillet over high heat until it shimmers. Add half of the marinated beef in a single layer. Do not overcrowd the pan. Sear the beef for 2-3 minutes per side until beautifully browned and cooked through. Remove the cooked beef to a clean plate and set aside. Repeat with the remaining beef, adding another tablespoon of oil if needed
  6. Add the remaining 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil to the hot pan. Toss in the sliced onions and carrots first, stirring constantly for 2-3 minutes until they start to soften slightly
  7. Now, add the bell peppers and broccoli florets to the pan. Continue to stir-fry for another 3-5 minutes, until the vegetables are crisp-tender but still retain a bit of their bite
  8. Return the cooked beef to the pan with the vegetables. Give your prepared stir fry sauce a quick whisk again, then pour it over the beef and vegetables
  9. Bring the sauce to a gentle simmer, stirring continuously. The sauce will thicken within 1-2 minutes, coating all the ingredients beautifully
  10. Remove the stir fry from the heat. Garnish with sesame seeds and sliced green onions if desired. Serve your incredible spicy halal beef stir fry hot over steamed rice, noodles, or cauliflower rice

Notes

Pro Tip: Slice beef thinly and against the grain for tenderness. Cook in batches over high heat to avoid overcrowding the pan and ensure proper searing.

Pro Tip: Have all ingredients prepped (mise en place) before starting to cook, as stir-frying is a fast process.

Storage: Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3-4 days. Reheat gently on the stovetop with a splash of water or broth for best texture.

Serving Suggestion: Best served immediately over steamed rice, noodles, or cauliflower rice.
