A perfect balance of warmth and sweetness, this homemade spicy honey sauce is a versatile condiment that elevates everything from pizza and fried chicken to roasted vegetables.

Ingredients

Scale

1 Cup Raw Honey
1.5 Tablespoons Red Pepper Flakes
1 Teaspoon Apple Cider Vinegar
1 Pinch Sea Salt

Instructions

  1. Measure out your honey, red pepper flakes, vinegar, and salt
  2. Place the honey and red pepper flakes into a small saucepan over medium-low heat
  3. Stir the mixture constantly until the honey becomes thin and runny, ensuring it does not reach a rolling boil
  4. Once small bubbles form around the edges, let the sauce simmer for about 2 to 3 minutes to infuse the heat
  5. Remove the pan from the heat and stir in the apple cider vinegar and the pinch of salt
  6. Optional: Pour the mixture through a fine-mesh strainer if you prefer a smooth sauce without pepper flakes
  7. Let the sauce cool completely before transferring it to a clean glass jar for storage

Notes

Do not let the honey boil as it can become bitter and lose nutritional benefits.

The sauce will thicken significantly as it returns to room temperature.

If the honey crystallizes, place the jar in a bowl of warm water to melt the crystals.

Store in an airtight glass jar at room temperature for up to three months.

For a vegan alternative, substitute honey with high-quality maple syrup.
