A refreshing, vibrant, and tangy non-alcoholic virgin margarita recipe that's easy to prepare, family-friendly, and perfect for quenching thirst on a warm day. Made with fresh lime and orange juice, and sweetened with agave nectar.

Ingredients

Scale

4 oz Fresh Lime Juice
2 oz Orange Juice
1-2 oz Agave Nectar (or simple syrup)
4 oz Cold Water or Sparkling Water/Club Soda
Plenty Ice
Coarse Salt (or sugar) for rimming
Lime Slices/Wedges for garnish

Instructions

  1. Prepare Your Glass: Take a lime wedge and run it around the rim of your serving glass. Invert the glass and gently press the rim into a shallow plate of coarse salt (or sugar). Set the glass aside
  2. Combine Ingredients: Grab a cocktail shaker. Pour in the fresh lime juice, orange juice, and agave nectar. Add the cold water or sparkling water to the shaker
  3. Add Ice & Shake: Fill the shaker generously with ice cubes. Secure the lid tightly. Shake vigorously for about 15-20 seconds to thoroughly chill and mix all the ingredients
  4. Strain & Serve: Fill your prepared, salt-rimmed glass with fresh ice. Strain the contents of the shaker directly into your glass
  5. Garnish: Finish with a fresh lime slice or wedge on the rim or floating in the drink. Serve immediately and enjoy the burst of refreshing flavors!

Notes

Fresh is Best: Always use freshly squeezed lime juice and orange juice; bottled juices simply do not compare in flavor.

Adjust Sweetness to Taste: Taste your mocktail before serving and add more agave nectar or lime juice until you find your perfect balance.

Chill Your Glasses: For an extra frosty experience, chill your serving glasses in the freezer for 10-15 minutes before preparing your drink.

Shake it Hard: A vigorous shake properly chills, dilutes, and aerates the drink.

Garnish with Flair: Enhance presentation with a lime wedge, frozen berries, or a sprig of fresh mint.

Make Ahead (Partially): You can mix the lime juice, orange juice, and agave nectar ahead of time and store it in the fridge for up to 2-3 days. When ready to serve, just add water/sparkling water and ice, then shake.

Sweetener Swaps: Use simple syrup, maple syrup, or a few drops of stevia for a sugar-free option.

Citrus Zest: Add a pinch of lime zest directly into your shaker for extra flavor.

Fruity Fun: Muddle fresh strawberries, raspberries, mango, or pineapple in your shaker for a fruit-infused sensation.

Spicy Kick: Muddle a thin slice or two of jalapeño (seeds removed) with your lime juice for a bit of heat.

Bubbly Boost: Replace all or part of the cold water with sparkling water, club soda, or lemon-lime soda for a fizzy mocktail.

Orange-Free Option: Use a splash of orange extract, a tiny bit of orange zest, or increase lime juice slightly.

Herbal Infusion: Muddle a few fresh mint leaves or a sprig of cilantro with your lime juice for an unexpected herbal note.

Storage: This virgin margarita is best enjoyed fresh. Pre-mixed base can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 2-3 days. Leftover fully assembled drink (without ice) can be stored for no more than 1 day; flavor will diminish. Always add fresh ice just before serving.

Serving Suggestions: Pairs wonderfully with Mexican cuisine (tacos, enchiladas), grilled foods (chicken, shrimp), light bites (guacamole, salsa), summer salads, and spicy dishes for a cooling contrast.
